Browsing the Network So now that we have LinNeighborhood setup, it is time to see if there are any other pc's on the network. In this example, there is only one other pc on the network named win2000. If you followed all examples so far, you should have no problems seeing your windows pc's. Lets get started, click on the Options tab and choose "Browse entire network"
If you did not earlier check off "always scan as user", you will prompted for a username and password. Check off ' Browse as user", next enter in your Windows username and password. Click on ok.

Next, double click on GREPLINUX icon and the WIN2000 icon
The GREPLINUX pc shows the default admin$ share along with a share called data and the netlogon share (needed for a Samba PDC). The WIN2000 pc shows the administrative shares: C$, D$, E$, and H$ (meaning there are four partitions or drives on the WIN200 pc. For our purposes, we are interested in the 2 shares, Corel and Data. |
